Like Bush 41, I do not care for broccoli. However, my wife loves the stuff, so I have to eat it once in a while to make her happy. I'm always l;ooking for ways to make the stuff palatable. This recipe is a simple way to accomplish thyat goal. If you like food from southeast Asia, you will enjoy this recipe which takes but a few minutes to make.
My Thai friend tells me that broccoli is uncommon in Thailand. Fortunately, the two Thai ingrtedients are available in most American markets in he Asian food section.
To me, no matter what you put on it, broccoli has no redeeming character if it is ov er cooked. I like it crunchy. Make sure that you stop the cooking before it gets soft and limp.
1 Lb Broccoli florets
2 Tbs Thai fish sauce
2 Tsp Sugar
2 Tbs Thai Fried garlic or more to taste
Steam the broccoli florets no more than 5 - 6 minutes. Put the hot florets in a bowl and sprinkle over the remaining ingredients. Toss and serve at once. Now isn't that easy?
